Romania: long-stay visa fee raised to €300

Romania raised the long-stay (type D) visa fee, which the digital nomad visa uses, from €120 to €300 for applications submitted for validation through the eViza portal on or after 27 April 2026.

What changed

The Romanian long-stay (type D) visa fee rose from €120 to €300. The digital nomad visa is issued as a type D long-stay visa, so the new fee applies to it.

When

Effective for applications submitted for validation through the eViza portal on or after 27 April 2026. Applications sent for validation before that date were charged €120.

Source

The official eViza portal fee schedule (eviza.mae.ro/VisaFees) lists both amounts against the same long-stay category, so this is a genuine fee increase, not a currency or rounding difference.

Who's affected

Anyone applying for the Romania Digital Nomad Visa from 27 April 2026 onward, regardless of passport.

Action

Budget €300 for the visa fee itself. This is separate from the residence-permit and other costs charged after arrival.
